This Shropshire British manufacturer, was once so much in demand, that in the 1960’s they owned seven factories and had a workforce of 1,000. This pre-loved, vintage 1950’s Chad Valley Teddy Bear gives you an idea as to why.
He is a 47 cm / 18.5″, fully jointed teddy bear, sewn from a dense blonde mohair, with his once, much touched paws, having been sympathetically restored, with warm, chocolate wool felt. His sparkling, two-tone brown, glass eyes have diminished with time (he is almost 70 years old, don’t you know), with the paint having flaked, resulting in partial brown colourization, whilst his original hand stitched facial features, show a much kissed nose and a partial, side-ways grin.
He has wonderfully characterful ears and is in fantastic condition for his age (please see available images), with some expected, thread bear patches in his coat.
