H.G. Stone & Co Ltd, was the trade name of Chiltern Toys when founder Josef Eisenmann passed, handing the reigns over to his son-in-law, Leon Rees, who formed a partnership in 1920 with Harry Stone. Known for their Hugmee Range and Baby Bruin – the Bear Cub, 1958 saw the arrival of mechanical Cubby and his turn key music box, which when played, activates his head to move side to side with the musical melody.
The pre-loved Cubby is a 32.5 cm / 12.5″ teddy bear, with an internal, concealed system, that allows for bendable limbs, whilst his carded flat soles, aid with posing. He has been crafted from a mix of a light-blue and cream mohair, with velveteen paw pads, plastic, two-tone amber eyes and a characterful, moulded plastic nose. He is an item to be interactive with, not just for bedtime and as such, there are worn, sparse areas within his coat.
At 64 years old, he is in fabulous condition, (please see available images) and note, that the colour of his mohair, has gradually faded over time,
